Train for the Team with Hive Roller Derby

Train for the Team is a roller derby workshop designed for newer skaters - helping you to push your derby to the next level and find your place in your squad.

With both on and off skates sessions, make the most of a 5 hour workshop - training your derby brain & derby skills.

You can expect to work on your strategy knowledge, cross-training, footwork, and teamwork - not to mention meet cool derby folks and build your derby community.

Who is it for?

New team skaters who want to hone their derby knowledge and tighten up their derby skills!

Skaters who have played between 5-10 games will get the most out of this day. Skaters with more or less experience are also welcome to join, and if you're unsure, just ask :)

If you feel that you feel you haven't quite got to this level yet, then check out of Train for the Track workshop - designed for skaters with 0-7 games experience https://www.hiveskatehub.uk/train-for-the-track

Sessions:

Classroom:  What do you do when? 11:30-13:30

Explore advanced scenarios and strategies to build your derby brain and open up options in gameplay

Session 2: Own the track 14:00-15:25

Drill down into key skills for blockers and jammers, building footwork that will help you hold a wall, initiate and avoid offence, and improve your one on one engagement.

Session 3: Sync with your teammates 15:35-17:00

Put those skills to work for the team.  We'll explore different formations and quick reforming and cover drills to build team unity on track.
